Coach Brian J Parker has taught, coached, and mentored youth on Chicago’s Southside for over 25 years. Upon completing his undergraduate studies, Coach Parker began teaching Reading and Math in Chicago’s Chatham Neighborhood. A year later he returned to the Auburn-Gresham neighborhood where he grew up to teach Reading and Math to students at Oakdale Christian Academy.
Coach Parker eventually started a basketball training program and youth basketball league. He would eventually go on to become Dean of Students and Principal/Director of Oakdale Christian Academy. After several years of training in the martial arts, Coach Parker earned the rank of NIDAN (second degree black belt) in Aikido, an art dedicated to developing the mind, body, and spirit.
He continues to train and teach self-defense to men, women, and children under the leadership of Professor Joaquin Jackson while also offering basketball skill development to elementary, high school, collegiate, and professional players.
Coach Parker currently teaches middle school mathematics in Chicago and offers tutoring in Mathematics. He holds a Bachelor of Liberal Studies Degree from Iowa State University with a concentration in Physics, Engineering Science, and Communications.
